Graham has updated the WE blog in regards to The Dixie Water Project. http://wildearth-media.blogspot.com/2009/03/water-for-dixie-and-24-hour-safari.html WE are planning a marathon 24 hour safari to help raise funds so that WE can get the water project up and going.

Please read Graham's post...WE are again asking for your help Angels. Let's do this for Dixie! It is in our nature.

WE faught, WE pushed, WE tried and WE persevered...WE came away with 2nd AND 3rd place in the Amazee Stir in the Bucket contest! This means 5000 USD for our "Water for Dixie" project.

It has come to our attention that two of the causes were coming up with error messages for some IE users. This was an error caused by a video add on WE had and it has since been fixed so that this error should not impede any one's ability to join. So if you were one of the people plagued by the error, please retry. If you have any problems, let myself or any of the admins know.

WE have another project....this one involves the essence of all life....WATER.

"The WEangels have done so much over the past few months for this small African village on the edge of Djuma, in Mpumulanga, South Africa. WE took the kids to the movies in Nelspruit three hours away by bus, when they had never seen a paved road or a double storey building. On Christmas day WE gave 146 kids presents and provided a super lunch to over 600 people. WE have made a difference in the village of Dixie, but now the time has come to change this village forever. To make sure that every home has fresh running water!!!Right now the woman have to walk to one of the few taps in the village and collect the water into plastic barrels and then carry them home. This process takes up much of their time and leaves little opportunity to do the things that they need to do.

Running water changes lives. It improves hygiene, saves labour, makes irrigation possible and it gives hope. Water is life and WE can give it. To do this for Dixie is not just our responsibility it is our privilege, and I ask you to now begin this journey with us. WE have built up a great deal of good will and trust in this community, and I think that WEangels can do this. Yes WE can!The first two projects were relativley easy, this one will not be easy. Not only will it cost a lot more, require far more physical effort and take far longer, but it will also be fraught on all sides by politics and complexities that WE will have to overcome.... and overcome WE shall ... it is in our nature!Over the next little while WE will plan and cost this project, and begin consulting the necessary tribal authorities, muncipalities and other stakeholders. Above all WE will secure the support of the people of Dixie, and together we will overcome all obstacles one at a time. Christmas was a success!!

It was just amazing to watch Christmas happen live all the way across the ocean (atleast for me) in a small village in South Africa. I for one never imagined that people who watch a live safari drive over the internet could come together and do this for Dixie. I for one am very proud of each Angel who donated time or money to this project. The faces on the whole village that day showed us all that our efforts did more than just give Christmas to the village....it gave them hope. It gave them a sense of caring that they just didn't have before.

WE are now 11 days to Christmas and the WEangels have raised almost $5000.00!!

Emily and I have bought most of the presents for 143 kids, Rex has organised the tent, music, two cows, three sheep, almost 100 chickens and a team of cooks. Emily has organised all the other food and drink, which will be delivered to WE just before Christmas.

WE appreciate all your donations, please keep spreading the word as the more WE raise the more we will be able to feed.But you can help the WEangels raise $5000.00 simply by registering at http://www.amazee.com/ for FREE and then joining the Christmas at Dixie project. The project that has the most members (with photo avatars, so don't forget to upload a photo) by the 29th January 2009 will win $5000.00 dollars! This will be too late for Christmas, but WE will think of something that will benefit the people of Dixie and you can make it happen. It will only take a few minutes out of your day, but could end up making a real difference in the lives of some poor and super deserving people.Currently the lead project has 190 members ... WEangels can certainly beat that ... it's in our nature.

I would also like to thank Stacy Manfredi for all her assistance so far on this project. She has very kindly been helping to start the WEangels Blog, the WEangels Facebook Group and the WEangels "Christmas at Dixie" Facebook cause. I would also like to thank Karen, Aquila, Valorie and Bev for their massive contribution to running the WE social network and for creating the WEangels group. The WEangels project is growing from strength to strength, and I suspect that it is going to be around for a very long time and make a very big difference in a lot of peoples lives.

WE have been very busy getting ready for Christmas. Shopping for 143 children I am sure has been a task that probably has taken over Graham and Emily's home. As WE are preparing for Christmas at Dixie, WE minds have been busy planning the WE Angel's next project. This one involves no donations...just a moment of your time. Please go to http://www.amazee.com/christmas-dixie AND here is the kicker...if you join amazee (which is FREE), put up an avatar and join this project and WE get the most members, WE wins $5000 for Dixie!!! There is also another Wild Earth group on there to join as well.

WE has been tossing around ideas for this money should WE win this Amazee contest. Graham has thrown out the idea of providing running water for everyone in the village. Can you imagine just how BIG of a deal that is? He is looking into what that would involve etc. BUT first WE need the Angels help...get everyone you know who cares about this project to sign up and put up an avatar!

Also, our very own Graham Wallington has hit the airwaves recently to talk about WE Angels. He recently was interviewed by Carm of Bay State Rock on WAAF in Boston to spread the word of the WE Angels work in Dixie. Thanks to Carm for the interview and helping get our word out there! After the interview we had a lot of people sign up at the amazee site!

Silver bells, silver bells...It's Christmas time in Dixie

Well, ok maybe it is still about 47 days away but WE are gearing up to make Christmas something very special for the kids of Dixie this year! Not every child in Dixie gets a Christmas gift each year. Families there struggle to put food on their tables and Christmas is just not possible for many. WE would like to change that, especially for the children of Dixie. Graham has been working with Rexon to compile a list of kids under the age of 14 in the village...with your help, WE will be making up age appropriate hampers for all of these kids (approx 80 of them). As always you can email your donation to dixie@wildearth.tv via Paypal.

But if you think WE will stop there? Oh you are sadly mistaken!! Every year at Christmas time, Rexon and the other more fortunate people at Dixie also help provide food for those families who do not have the funds to do so themselves. And WE are being given the opportunity to help do this too! WE would like to provide 3 cattle, rent a tent, buy a lot of mielie pap (very much like grits or polenta), salad makings, soda and put on a Christmas lunch that will feed everyone in the village properly. And WE are going to be there LIVE! Yes, the crew will be spending their Christmas with the people of Dixie!

WE figure that $3000 will be enough to make this all possible. Just $3000 to help change the lives of so many people! You can get on board by joining the WE Angels Group on Facebook and joining the Christmas in Dixie Cause there as well. Invite your family and friends to help brighten the lives of a whole village in South Africa! Giving is what Christmas is all about, giving is what the WE Angels are all about...giving, it is in our nature.

Who are the WildEarth Angels?

The WEangels are a team of people that care. People that have a common interest in making a difference. They also just happen to be fans of WildEarth (www.wildearth.tv) a place where you can watch wildlife LIVE and feel connected to far away wild places.
Conservation of wildlife has a lot to do with showing the rural communities that live around these wild places a real value in conserving nature. In fact conservation, in my opinion, has more to do with directly benefiting and helping people today, rather than science.
In the name of wildlife WEangels help the kids.
